I had just got out of the water and something big had surfaced the water. It sat there for a moment so I had a good look at it. It was a bright color. Very slimy looking. It was at least 10 ft long and had large scales. It had a small mouth, but teeth that filled its whole mouth. It looked like a largE, fat snake with 4 feet. It scared me.

So me and my boys were chilling out on the boat after a long day of fishing. Just sitting around for a bit when suddenly our watercraft was practically overturned. The force was unbelievable... I thought I might be thrown from the boat. The I saw it. The creature from the depths... it was greenish in color and slimy. It appeared to resemble a large snake such as an anaconda. Please everyone be careful out there.

Here's proof that there is something huge living in Lake Norman. Me and my buddy were fishing a back cove in Lake Norman when we hooked something that almost pulled me over.

We had been up all night listening to music, and then we watched "Jennifer's Body". After the movie we went to play in the snow. We were going in this one yard with a ton of snow and we were rolling down the hill almost falling in the water a few times. So then we stopped and sat in the snow. We were looking at the lake and saw something big floating. I was laughing and making jokes about it being an iceberg, then we thought, "no, not cold enough for iceberg".
Then we saw a duck... but it was too big to be a duck. We joked about it, but it didn't go away. The thing was fairly large about half the size of a small car. We we didn't know what it was. It was dark so i threw a snow ball at it and said "it's Normie run!!!"

I was relaxing on my Malibu and suddenly one of my friends went under. I dropped my drink because I was so frightened. A couple seconds later she came up yelling for her life and jumped in the boat. She said she couldn't see anything but the famous "Normie" and he was long and slimy and had prickly skin. From that day on, I will NEVER go in Lake Norman again.

I was driving to Virginia from Easley SC, going across the Lake on I-77, when not far from the road, about 25-30 feet out into the lake, the water was rolling. It wasn't moving outward like a boat's wake, but more of a forward motion while rolling. In fact, there weren't even any boats nearby that could have created a wake anyway. It was the strangest thing and I wondered if there were a "sea monster" in the lake. Hahaha. And wasn't I amazed on 08/26/2010 to hear the DJ on 106.9 kind of derisively ask if anyone had any Lake Norman monster sightings!! So, of course, I looked it up on the internet and here I am with my report. It was just the strangest thing driving along watching the water roll like it was doing! Glad I wasn't IN the lake!

I was waiting for my friends to take me tubing. I was sitting by a tree with their dog and I saw what looked like a small brown pole with a small triangle like head. I went over to get a closer look and it quickly went back down into the water. The neck was about 3 feet long.

There was a guy out there he was about 16 or 17... I think he said his name was Brandon or something... He was using a 7ft heavy duty rod. He had 14 lb test on his reel and he threw out a sunfish about 1in long on metal wire thing with 2 treble hooks and his fish was swimming on top of the water. It was then that I saw a shadow that was about 8 or 9 feet in length jet through and grab the fish. It looked like a big snake in the water but with a gator face. In the matter of seconds it had - I think Brandon said - 325 yards of line completely spooled and then Brandon said, "I wonder what that was?" I didn't tell him that I saw how big it was because I thought I was just going crazy.

One day, me and my friends were out in the lake, on the boat, near where my friends house is on the lake, and I jumped in the water and she did too. All of a sudden, I felt something big wack my foot, and she felt it too, and somthing like water rushing against you but with great force, and I got out of the water as fast as I could on to the boat and I told her to get out and by the time she did there was a big, huge, fish in the water! It was about 10 feet or so, and it was brown and yellow, and I told her we should probably try to get a picture of this but then when it came toward the boat, it splashed our bags and then all of our electronics were dead, so we still remember that day....

I saw something that looked like a turtle head popping out of the water so I drove close and a long tail whipped out and it had back legs then went underneath the water.

I was out on my paddle board and something bumped it from underneath and swam off. The water was deep and there was no debris around, so I know there was something alive and very large under me!

It was late at night, around 10 o'clock, one of the many nights it snowed. My friend and I were standing by the lake and there was something out in the lake. It was coming straight across the lake and not stopping. My friend and I looked at each other (now I'm a little new here so I had never heard of Normie until then) anyway then she yelled "IT'S NORMIE!" I was confused but ran anyway. She told me about it back at the house. I will never forget that night.

It was a beautiful hot day in September where the days are steaming hot and the evenings are cool. We had enjoyed being on the lake all day. It had seemed to be the perfect day. My family came in from a beautiful hot day on the lake. It was time for hot dogs and good ole NC Cheeseburgers. After the cookout we decided to go fishing at the docks. We live off the cove of Bethel Church Road in Cornelius. It is a really dark and quiet cove at night. You have to walk on a board walk through a forest area to get to the docks. The rain had been plentiful, therefore the water was raised into the forest as the swamplands. A lot of wildlife live within the the area. Beautiful but a little creepy in the midst of the dark still night. Myself and my 15yr old niece and goddaughter had gone fishing that night to just relax. The stars where especially radiant that evening. The full moon's shadow reflected off the slightly rippling water. It was a perfect evening. I decided to walk up to the house for drinks and a snack. As I was walking down the boardwalk to bring the drinks and snacks I heard the most harsh noise I've ever heard. Suddenly I heard the girls scream as if they were in great danger. As I was running for them they where running as fast as they could towards me. They were in great panic. I comforted them and we went to the house. As I settled them I continued to ask them what had happened and they went to tell their story of their sighting of Normie the Lake Monster. They sat patiently waiting for the 1st bite of the night. They had a couple of nibbles but not a hook. Suddenly one of the girls got a bite. They shouted it's a big one, so she started reeling it in. She reeled, pulled and tugged. Wow this was a big one. All of a sudden something dark came fling out of the water towards them. They dropped their fishing rod and watched their rod fly into the lake. They started screaming and ran for the house. Lake life has never been the same for the girls. We went out the next morning to see if we could find the rod and it was no where to be found. We haven't seen another sighting of Normie the Lake Monster but carry our camera with us to the lake in hopes to be the first to capture the 1st of photo of the Lake Norman Monster. So take great safety as you are on the lake because Normie is real. We are witnesses to his presence, The Lake Norman Monster.
I have a lakefront home with a large goldfish pond near the house. i had just put about 50 goldfish in my pond and went into the house for a while. When I looked out I saw a monster Heron standing in the middle of my pond and he had eaten nearly all of the 50 fish that I had just put in.

I was cleaning carpet Wednesday 24th when I looked out the window from a second story window at the lake and thought I was having a flashback to my Navy Days off the coast of Hawaii. It was common to see a big whale swimming or splashing about the water as we sailed the warm waters around the big Island of Hawaii. But this is Lake Norman and what I saw swimming in Lake Norman surely could not have been a whale. It was something of great size and as it moved through the water it left a three foot wake in it's trail. it was gone as quick as I had seen it and it Look to be at least 25-35 ft in length with a dark green sheen to it. I had heard rumors of big fish in the lake and have seen pictures of Capt. Gus holding up some pretty big fish, but this was more than a fish and as far as I'm concerned I'll never go swimming in the lake again.
there was a giant 30 foot eel thing shaking my boat

This creature has been reported as looking like a slow moving pile of mud and debris, then amongst this debris it rises. Its head looks like that of a prehistoric dinosaur, and is a little larger than a human head. Its brown-colored neck is about ten feet long its eyes are horrifyingly bright and large.

I am 50 years old now. The sighting was just south of Skipper's
Landing. When I was @8 years old, I was relaxing in the lake on a canvas raft next to our floating dock as my mom sunbathed. All of a sudden, a large creature bounded out of the water and created an enormous wake. It appeared to be extremely large, meaty thick, greenish brown with a skin similar to a Salamander. It occurred on a sunny calm summer day prior to lunch. The sudden commotion startled me so much I jumped off the raft and plunged for the steps attached to the floating dock. Meanwhile, my mom raised up and screamed for me to get out. Her description of the creature was more akind to the Manatee (Sea Cow). Since that occurance, I have heard of other stories and sightings around Lake Norman. Many of my friends and family have referred to this mysterious creature as the "Mullihugger".

I was so interested in the lake norman monster I turned to google maps to find it, low and behold it was caught with the satellites imagery!
Click this link and change it to satelite view, I've placed a marker to help you see it, this thing is amazing!
You can make out the body, the tail, and the rear fin as it made a splash and small ripple directly above it.
Comparing this thing to the map legend it looks to be a good 20 feet long! I can't believe I found it using google! I'm so excited!

My kids and I were out on my father's pontoon and decided to stop and go swimming. We anchored down in one of the coves nearby and let the kids jump in. Eventually we were all swimming and having a great time. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a long snake like object approached me from the direction my kids were swimming. It was brown and kind of looked like a huge Snickers bar, I think I remember seeing a peanut or two. It omitted an awful stench that reminded me of a port-a-john at the racetrack. Eventually our visitor just floated off into the distance. When I asked my children if they saw it too they only giggled and said "Hi-De-Ho dad". I guess I'll never know what I saw that day but I swear I smell that same smell sometimes when I'm out fishing on Norman.

I stil am reeling from what my eyes beheld this past weekend. We were out camping (read: drinking) on the red clay banks of what is used to be covered in water. Well, where we are used to be called Lake Norman before the drought, when I in my tank top and Mom in her ball cap had just settled into our sleeping bags for a long summer nap.
The youngun's were all asleep in the hay, and the dog had retired from a long Summer dawg's day. When what to my wandering eyes should appear...but a huge lake dragon, sipping on beer! He was slimy and green and all covered in mud, and he shook when he laughed, and then offered me a "Bud". With a twitch of his tail, he opened another, and looked straight at me, and said: "What's happenin' brother?!" Confused and afraid, I stammered and stuttered...drunk and disoriented, the Monster belched and he sputtered. So we sat and we talked, the Monster and I: and he told me tales of the lake, under the dark summer sky. I told him about NASCAR, and how our area was growing: he told me tales of the deep as a distant rooster was crowing. With the night now spent, the darkness gave way to light, and the Monster slipped back into the water and yelled out "Good night!" Good night? I exclaimed, as I drank one more beer...and my wife awoke from her sleep and said what are you doing out here? Out here, my dear? Out here by the pier? ..Yes, what are you doing out here, out here drinking all of this beer? I was talking to Norman, I said with a grin...and she took the beer from my hand, and then led me home again. Well that is my story, tis frighteningly true...You'll see the monster too, if you drink as much as I do!

Looking at the sightings reported on the website, we have come to the conclusion that this "Normie" is what people have called "Frankenfish", or Snakeheads, mostly prominent in the Delaware River. This snakehead is feeding on the nuclear waste and radioactive fish near the McGuire Nuclear Power Station, and the Steam Station. So this creature is a mutated snakehead that is trapped in the lake, and has grown because of exposure to radioactivity and abundances of food.
